[If he weren’t so focused on exploring Diluc’s mouth and basking in his touch. He would blush to his collar bones about how much affection and love is flowing through the link from Diluc. As it is, his face darkens in color.
He drags his hands down Diluc’s sides as their lips move against each other’s. His mind is stuck on a repeated mantra of Diluc and love.
Words he will say at some point. When he can say them and not blush down to his chest.]
First shower together (before they get hit with married Au)
[He has gotten used to going to bed with Diluc. It has become a routine and the worries about how long this would be allowed have faded. Some part of him still worries this is all a dream and he would wake up in his flat all alone.
The sun rises. He clings to Diluc as he rises. He doesn’t pull on him to come back to bed. Kaeya acts like a cat that refuses to move as they shuffle across the room to the bathroom. He mumbles a reply to a question while trying to keep dozing.
He’s being a brat. The attitude works until he hears a rustle and the thump of fabric hitting the floor. His eyes snap open. The question surfaces and he opens his mouth then closes it.
He lets go of Diluc and pulls his long shirt up and over his head on automatic. Too late to retreat and he doesn’t want to disappoint his soul mate. His face feels hot. He ignores it.]
[Diluc is getting used to Kaeya's mood in the morning. And while it's terribly endearing and he's thoroughly charmed by it, he also needs to tear himself out of bed, and this time Kaeya comes with him, so he figures they may as well make the most of it.
So he asks him to come to the shower with him if he feels the need to be clingy. He's half asleep himself, and the question makes sense really.
He's already out of his pajamas and reaching to set the shower running to let it warm up before he looks back to Kaeya.]
[His long shirt falls from his fingers as he stares at the naked back of one Diluc Ragnvindr. He expected scars. But Diluc is a work of art he can’t tear his eyes away from.
He coughs and turns away. He pulls his boxers off while his embarrassment floods his mind. At least he’s wide awake now. Damn he wants to run his hands over Diluc’s back…
He kicks that part of him to silence and looks back over his shoulder.] Of course I won’t wear a shirt into the shower. I’m just slower in the morning, you know that by now.
[He sets his pajamas aside neatly. He turns back to glance at Kaeya, catching him just as he rids himself of his boxers. It's a lovely view from this side of the room too., and he lets his eyes wander.
Is he imagining that blush that's visible as Kaeya glances back at him.]
Yes, yes. You're not a morning person. I'm a little afraid that's rubbing off on me.
[He's never lingered in bed half so long as he does now that Kaeya is sharing it with him. Moving closer he sets a hand lightly against Kaeya's back, leaning in to press a kiss to his shoulder.]
[He can feel Diluc’s eyes on him. He has to breathe to suppress a shiver. He’s so focused on keeping a lid on it he doesn’t notice Diluc is behind him until his hand touches his shoulder. The heat of him behind him stills his thoughts and his breath catches.
Oh, the warmth of his hand. He doesn’t even realize he’s leaning into his touch until he hears his voice so close to his ear.] Mm? Right.
[He waits to turn around until Diluc is heading for the shower. He swallows hard.] You’re welcome by the way. I told you all that time ago that a little extra rest wouldn’t harm you.
[Diluc hears that catch of breath, and his touch lingers -- though it was going to linger anyway if he's being honest with himself. He steps closer and leans in to press a kiss to the back of Kaeya's neck before he finally moves to step into the shower.
He looks back and doesn't bother hiding the smile at Kaeya's words. When it's just the two of them in these quiet moments along together, he smiles more, small glimpses of the young man he'd been.]
Yes, you told me so. I know. [He holds out a hand towards him.]
[He stares at him. It occurs to him - not for the first time - that Diluc is a gorgeous man. His heart thuds hard in his chest but not from desire.
Diluc smiling so much is wonderful. He wants him - both of them - to be happy. It’s enough to forget they’re both naked and turn at take his hand. He threads their fingers together and steps close enough their sides brush.
Then his brain catches up with his heart. He looks down.
Oh. He jerks his head back up and pretends he didn’t look. He’s blushing and stammers out.] L-lets continue.
[Diluc wants that too. Kaeya deserves to be happy -- not that veneer of happiness and good cheer he knows Kaeya is so good at presenting to the world -- genuinely, truly happy.
That said, shy Kaeya has proven to be such a surprise that he barely knows what to do with how adorable he finds it. Even now. He catches that look down. Mostly because he's giving one of his own.
Diluc will not pretend he did not look. Now that he's committed to this, he's a great deal less shy about it.]
Yes, let's.
[He agrees, leaning in to press a kiss Kaeya's cheek, stepping in all the closer. The water is hot and Kaeya is close and it's the best sort of morning.] Can I shampoo your hair?
Yes, if I can scrub your back. [This is the best morning he has ever had. Embarrassment aside.
It keeps sticking in his head that Diluc in his usual way isn’t that shy at all. Unlike him. Well, he would be the same way if it didn’t mean anything.
But, he cares. He loves Diluc. This matters so much. The affection wells up in him to mix with the desire warming him up. He kisses Diluc’s neck then his jaw. He lifts their joined hands and kisses the back of Diluc’s hand.
He feels giddy and light headed. He hasn’t thought that far ahead in how he feels. But the words burn in his heart. He loves Diluc.]
[When it is the day of gift giving for Mondstadt. A package sits in the kitchen. It is wrapped beautifully and precisely in plain paper. Inside is a tempered glass teapot with tins and containers of fruit teas. A little moisture-proof contained contains blooming teas. A jar of dark honey is nestled in the center.
A letter written in an elegant hand lies beside the package.]
D, I'm outside cutting the firewood. I hope this gift brings you some joy. In winter we can't get the fruit juice you love so much. This is as close to it as I could get. I even got some of the honey you love at the market. It took some doing!
Please do ravish me in your appreciation. I have a more private gift to give you that's as much a gift to me as it is to you. ;) - Your future husband, K.
[On the morning of Winter's Crest, Kaeya and Diluc will find a basket in front of the door to their home. Inside is an apple cake, a bottle of apple wine and bear-shaped ginger cookies. There's a note in Vex's handwriting.]
Kaeya and Diluc,
I wavered over what to give the two of you for Winter's Crest. This holiday on Exandria is about celebrating victory over evil and enjoying the love and warmth of family and friends with food, games, and lots of fun. So, I decided to make you these treats and to make sure that you come to the Keep for tonight's festivities.
[At midnight, the wind swirling around the still form of Kaeya Alberich fades to nothing. His fur is windswept, and the patterns of stars extend and stretch into patterns of whorls of wind.
He wakes up slowly, a golden left eye sliding open before his right eye opens. He lays there for a moment with a furrow on his brow. He lifts his hands and stops, staring at the ring that catches the light. Memories start to flood back as he kisses the ring and cradles his hand. He drops it onto his chest and looks around.] Diluc?
[His voice sounds raspy as if from disuse. He frowns at that. This certainly hasn't been his finest hour.] Luc?
[Diluc has not been dealing with Kaeya's state well. Of course, the way the redhead deals with stress is to internalize it all and go very, very quiet, downright monosyllabic.
He's spent most of his time keeping vigil, and Kaeya will notice that he's been carefully tucked into their bed. There's a vase of fresh flowers on the bedside table, the soft scent of lavender permeating the room.
At the sound of his name, Diluc is sprinting to the bedroom, nearly skidding to a stop in the doorway as he sees Kaeya awake. The Ragnvindr heir looks less put together than usual. His hair is drawn up into a high, messy ponytail, and he's wearing nothing fancier than a pair of pants and a dark t-shirt. There are dark circles under his eyes, but the relief on his face is obvious.]
Kae. You're awake. Thank the gods. [He closes the rest of the distance between them, reaching out to brush back the other man's hair, careful, delicate.] Are you all right?
[His eyes widen. Diluc looks like he has been through hell. It is so at odds with his last memories that he sits up and reaches for him.
He wraps his arms around him. Kaeya leans into the warmth of his body. It feels familiar and new at the same time.] I’m alright. You look like you need some sleep.
[He has no idea of the change to his eye or his fur. He slides his arms up Diluc’s back as he studies his face.] How long was I…scaring you.
I'm fine now. [Diluc assures him. Sleep, yes, he needs that. But he'll be able to now, he thinks, now that he knows Kaeya is back and unharmed by whatever trickery this was. He's heard rumors of similar things happening to others, but that had only been so comforting when Kaeya just didn't wake up.]
Too long. [His arms wrap around Kaeya in turn, holding him tightly, keeping him close. He notices the changes, but doesn't say anything yet, too busy taking in Kaeya's face, making sure there's no sign of injury or distress or anything else. He leans close and presses a kiss to Kaeya's forehead.] You're back now. It's fine.
[Imperceptibly at first and then very, very obviously, Diluc relaxes under that touch, leans into Kaeya with a soft exhale. He's been worried. They'd finally found each other after such a long time -- worked out their differences despite themselves -- and the idea of losing Kaeya again was... a lot.
But he's back now, and Diluc repeats that to himself silently. He doesn't resist being urged back, settling into the bed, still holding onto the other man.]
You're worrying too much. [He assures him quietly, but there's a smile on his face.] I'll sleep fine now that you're back.
I was. I experienced a span of months. Ending in Weinlesefest. [He slips his hand under Diluc’s shirt to run over his back. Warm skin. Skin he is allowed to touch.
He removes the tie from Diluc’s hair.] And of course I’m worried. My put together noble looking like he just rolled out of bed.
[He snorts,] Which is exactly the look I love seeing but I like the debauched version.
[Diluc echoes quietly before nodding. Kaeya had been here and gone simultaneously, and time had moved differently here and back in Mondstadt. It's more evidence of the power of the Fox. More than that though, it means that Kaeya has been away longer than Diluc experienced.] Did you remember this place, when you were home?
[His expression turns faintly sheepish as Kaeya calls him out on his current appearance. Well, all right, he'll admit he's not as put together as he normally is. He's had other things to worry.
Then Kaeya continues and it's Diluc's turn to breathe out a laugh.] Is that how it is?
I didn’t, or you bullying me into staying for dinner would have ended differently. [He climbs up on top of Diluc. He straddles his waist and leans over him. He gently traces Diluc’s lips with his fingertips.]
I had no idea my feelings were returned. No idea how if I stopped trying to give you the distance I thought you wanted… [He pulls his shirt up and off, tossing it aside. He trails his hand down Diluc’s chest as he kisses him.
He murmurs against his lips.] We would have this. And then I woke up realizing all of it all over again and here you are, right here.
[He presses his forehead to his. His tail brushes over Diluc and settles at his side.] You need some sleep or I would suggest a fun activity we both enjoy.
...well, as long as I was smart enough to try to get you to stay. [That's something. That's progress. But he goes silent immediately at the touch of those fingertips to his lips.
Diluc is too weak a man to resist reaching out and touching Kaeya in turn, fingers finding their way to warm skin, chin lifting to meet that kiss.]
We were both too stubborn for our own good. But maybe there's some hope for us back home as well.
[More importantly, the them that are here right now, though? They've found each other. One hand moves to sift through Kaeya's hair.] I am right here, by your side. Where I'm meant to be.
[A pause before he adds, quieter, feigned innocence at Kaeya's suggestion laced through his voice.] Chess?
That’s right. [He doesn’t even miss a beat as he reaches between them and cups Diluc through his pants.]
You need to capture the Queen with this bishop.
[He runs his fingers over him and grins at him. There is a smug air about him as he moves his hand up to Diluc’s stomach as he rolls his hips. He bites his bottom lip.]
[Diluc finds himself staring at Kaeya for a moment, half in disbelief at what just came out of the other man's mouth. Really though, he shouldn't be surprised anymore. Another moment of staring and Diluc can't help it, he dissolves into laughter -- not the restrained chuckle that the rest of the world may hear on occasion from him, but honest to goodness laughter like when he'd been a much younger man.
Laughter or no though, he also can't pretend the insinuation and that hand cupping at him isn't having an effect. It absolutely is, and when Kaeya starts rolling his hips against him, the laughter half turns into a growl, light and playful and relieved.]
You ridiculous brat.
[With that Diluc will move to flip Kaeya back and reverse their positions.]
[His back hits the bed while he laughs. His real laugh. He tips his chin up and reaches for Diluc above him.] I’m your brat.
[He slides a leg along his side as he drags a word out. Desire is burning hot inside him. He hasn’t ever been in this position. But they both need this.
And it isn’t so scary to let someone you love take care of you. He smiles, his real smile. Soft and full of love.] I love you. Now and always.
